Testing...Testing... 1 - 2 - 3

Wondering about the upcoming 4th Grade Science Tests? Here's the deal. But first, a reminder: don't stress! The test is very fair and some even describe it as being…. FUN! Really!

There will be two tests administered - a written test and a practical test. The written test will consist of about 30 multiple-choice questions and 12 open-ended, short answer responses and will be administered Monday morning, June 4th. The second part of the test is a hands-on performance assessment that tests students’ Science skills and understanding through three different activities. This test is separate from the written test and will be administered in the Science lab on Wednesday May 23rd - Friday, May 25th. Please look for your classroom newsletter to indicate the specific day and time for your homeroom.

Much of what is covered on the test is information and skills the students have been studying since the 2nd grade. The following areas tend to be the bulk of the assessment: plants (life cycle, seasons, plant parts/functions & seeds' growth and dispersal), animals (life cycles, food chains, & adaptations), water (properties & water cycle), measurement (linear, mass and volume), magnetism, electricity, states of matter, types of energy, forces, nutrition and reading charts/graphs.
